Pirates of the Spanish Main
Mark grew up the son of a wealthy and influential merchant in London. Receiving his education at Cambridge, Mark accepted a job offer to work as the personal physician for the governor of Jamaica, Lord Archibald Lynch. Foster’s future looked bright, up until the point that the ship he was traveling on was attacked by pirates. The ship was saved by a British patrol led by a Lt Lloyd, but Foster’s relief was short lived when he was promptly informed by Lloyd that he was to be pressed into service with His Majesty’s Royal Navy. His dreams of a prestigious career now erased, and facing a future of indentured servitude, it didn’t take much convincing for Foster to decide to join with the pirate Nathaniel Drake when the ship he was on was boarded while in port.
